Manuscrit trouvé à Saragosse, 1805-1813 (inclusive) [microform].

The papers consist of a printed French version of Potocki's novel "The Saragossa manuscript; a collection of weird tales." The work is divided into various parts. Part one (158 pages) was originally published in St. Petersburg in 1804 and 1805. Part two (represented here only by 48 pages) was published in Paris in 1813, and additional episodes appeared in 1815.

Jan Potocki, a Polish historian, archeologist, and short-story writer, was born into the Polish aristocracy. Highly educated, he was fluent in French and regarded it as his second language. He served as an adviser to Catherine the Great and Alexander I, who appointed him head of a scientific mission to China in 1805.
